UK Blu-ray Releases 5th March 2018

It’s time take a look at all the new releases out on Blu-ray this week in the UK. To be honest this isn’t the best week of releases so far this year but let’s take a look at what is out. These are the new Blu-ray Releases 5th March 2018.

UK Blu-ray Releases 5th March 2018

One of this week’s big releases comes from 20th Century Fox and is the latest version of Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express (2017) starring the likes of Kenneth Branagh, Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley and Michelle Pfeiffer. Other notable releases include A Bad Moms Christmas (2017) starring Mila Kunis or if you prefer there’s a Bad Moms boxset including both films. Looking for something a little different then why not take a look at the thriller The Killing Of A Sacred Deer (2017) starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.

Arrow Video have just one title this week, Raising Cain (1992) directed by Brian De Palma, starring John Lithgow and Lolita Davidovich and its a psychological horror.  Switching Arrow labels over to Arrow Academy sees western Ramrod (1947) with Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake.

Rounding up the other news film titles sees, Call Me By Your Name (2017), Truly, Madly, Deeply (1990) & The Night of the Hunted (1980).

Still on DVD?

If you are still buying films on DVD and have a HD television you can upgrade to Blu-ray by purchasing a brand named Blu-ray player for as little as around £55. The difference between DVD and Blu-ray is night and day and well worth the upgrade. Upgrading from Blu-ray to 4K Blu-ray requires a 4K television and doesn’t really give as much of a wow factor but if you can afford it then it’s certainly the best way to go for film fans. Disc based HD or 4K is still way better than streaming your movies.

The best thing about Blu-ray has to be seeing all those classic films being lovingly remastered resulting in magnificent picture quality with increased resolution and free from any annoying speckles.

Note: Most older films released on Blu-ray are generally very good or excellent but fear not as we review many of them and let you know which ones to avoid, such as The Vikings (1958) starring Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis which looks no better than the DVD.

Television (Blu-ray & DVD)

Only one Blu-ray title of note out this week and it the BBC series McMafia whilst on DVD comes the classic sitcom That’s My Boy: The Complete Series starring Molly Sugden courtesy of Network.

That just about concludes the new Blu-ray releases this week, check back next week for more or you can always stay up to date by checking out the Release Dates page.
