It’s time to take a look at the figures in full for the US Movie Charts July 27 2018.

Not surprisingly Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout storms to the number one spot taking $61.2m. Is that good or bad you may ask, but it should be noted that the box office figures have become somewhat skewed in the light of the amount of production line of superhero movies. Studio executives now seem to think a film needs to take over $100 million in its opening week to be classed as a success. This can’t last as eventually there will be superhero fatigue if it’s not already arrived.

Anyway back to MI Fallout, it had a budget of around $178m and according industry sources it’s already taken of $162m worldwide. I think it’s fair to assume it will easily take more than the $16m to break even in the coming weeks resulting in a decent profit.

Last week’s number one The Equalizer 2 starring the Denzel Washington falls to three with Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! remaining firm at two.

There was one other new entry this week with Teen Titans Go! To The Movies entering at number five managing $10.4m. Other films of note in the top ten movie charts include Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (4), Ant-Man and the Wasp (6) and Incredibles 2 (7).
