American Blu-ray Releases January 2018 Round-up including The Breakfast Club (1985)

It’s time to take a look at all of the main new Blu-ray releases that came out in January 2018 from both film and television.  So let’s get started with our round-up of the new American Blu-ray Releases January 2018.


American Blu-ray Releases January 2018

January has seen plenty of new releases, here are the highlights just in case you happened to miss any of these titles.

Warner Bros

One of the month’s big Blu-ray releases had to be the sci-fi sequel Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.  Other releases included Stephen King’s It (2017) and disaster film Geostorm (2017).  On the classic film side Warner Bros released the Gary Cooper movie The Hanging Tree (1959).

Universal

Switching focus to Universal’s January Blu-ray output shows several titles including the Tom Cruise film American Made (2017).  Other movies released included Fifty Shades Darker (2017), Happy Death Day (2017), Thank You for Your Service (2017), The Foreigner (2017) and The Snowman (2017).

20th Century Fox

It’s been a quiet month for 20th Century Fox with one new release of note, Battle Of The Sexes (2017) starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell.

Sony Pictures

There were two movies from Sony Pictures, Professor Marston & the Wonder Women (2017) and November Criminals (2017).

Lionsgate

Taking a look at Lionsgate shows four new releases, Class of 1999, Jigsaw (2017), My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) and Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween.

Criterion Collection

Looking at the Criterion Collection label shows eighties classic The Breakfast Club (1985) has undergone a 4K restoration whilst the 2016 film I, Daniel Blake also came out.

Kino Classics

Plenty of new releases from Kino Classics with the Michael Caine film Blame it on Rio (1984) and The Pink Panther Cartoon Collection – Vol. 1 two of their big titles.  Others included Inherit the Wind (1960) starring Spencer Tracy whilst Not as a Stranger (1955) stars Olivia de Havilland, Robert Mitchum & Frank Sinatra.

On the Kino Lorber label side of things there was just one release Emmanuelle and the Deadly Black Cobra (1976).

Shout! Factory

Six films came out by film label Shout! Factory including British sci-fi film The Projected Man (1966).  The other films included a horror film starring Robert Englund Dance Macabre (1992), Eye Of The Cat (1969), Hell Night (1981), Macon County Line (1974) and finally Matinee (1993).

Arrow Video / Arrow Academy

There was one release in each of Arrow’s two labels with Wes Cravens classic The Hills Have Eyes (1977) receiving the Arrow Video Blu-ray treatment.  On the Arrow Academy side of things a 2K restoration of The Witches came out.

Miscellaneous American Blu-ray Releases January 2018

Rounding up the best of the rest are the following titles, Dario Argento’s Opera (1987) came out courtesy of Scorpion Releasing whist ClassicFlix put out the 1948 film Raw Deal and Image Entertainment released The Houses October Built 2 (2017).

On the television front British series Victoria Season 2 starring Jenna Coleman is now available on Blu-ray.
