UK April Blu-ray Releases

It’s time to take a look at all the recent new releases out on Blu-ray in the UK.  I missed last week’s new titles so they will be included here.  So what gems do have to look forward to?  Well there are films featuring actors such as Cary Grant and Norman Wisdom.  Let’s take a look at the April Blu-ray releases in a little more detail.

April Blu-ray Releases 23rd & 30th


Powerhouse Films aka Indicator

Indicator has four new films available now, Little Murders (1971) is black comedy film starring Elliott Gould and Marcia Rodd.  Suddenly, Last Summer (1959) stars Elizabeth Taylor, Katharine Hepburn and Montgomery Clift, whilst St Valentines Day Massacre (1967) is a film by director Roger Corman.  Lastly there is The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man in the Moon Marigolds (1972) a drama directed by Paul Newman.

Other Titles

The BFI have three new releases two of which are from director Ingmar Bergman, The Magic Flute (1975) and The Touch (1971).  Their other offering is They Came to a City (1945) which is directed by Basil Dearden with the story being adapted from a J. B. Priestley play.

The Awful Truth (1937) a screwball comedy starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne and is now available on blu-ray having undergone a 4K digital restoration.  If you happen to be a fan of Norman Wisdom then There Was a Crooked Man (1960) has just been released by Network

Switching to more recent film offerings sees the remake/reboot Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017) starring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan.  If musical comedies are more your thing then you may be pleased to see Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).

Rounding up the last few titles are Hostiles (2017) a western starring Christian Bale and Braven (2018) which is an action/thriller featuring Jason Momoa.
