Arrow Video’s Blu-ray Releases February 2019

Arrow Video have been one the best things to happen to UK film lovers over the years but 2018 was a bit of a mixed bag of releases. January’s 2019 didn’t exactly get the pulses racing amongst many UK film lovers. Several of their recent releases also slipped from their inital release dates but it seems that things are back on track. They have just recently announced their February line-up. The big question is it a return to form? Well let’s take a closer look; these are Arrow Video’s Blu-ray Releases February 2019.

  • The Fifth Cord (1971) 4 February 2019 (UK, USA & Canada)
  • Climax (2018) TBC (UK)
  • The Possessed (1965) 4 February 2019 (UK, USA & Canada)
  • Before We Vanish (2017) 11 February 2019 (UK)
  • Horror Express (1972) 11 February 2019 (UK, USA & Canada)
  • Audition (1999) 12 February 2019 (USA & Canada)

I’m going to start with the stand out film and the one I will be reviewing upon its release. Yes I’m referring to Horror Express (1972) starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, oh and let’s not forget Telly Savalas. Anyway the good news is Arrow Video is releasing a brand new 2K restoration from original film elements. This one’s out in the UK, USA & Canada on the 11/12 February 2019.

Next up are a couple of UK only titles, Climax is a French musical horror film starring Sofia Boutella which was originally scheduled for release on the 21st January but slips into February. Meanwhile Before We Vanish (2017) is a Japanese fantasy and science fiction offering and comes out on 11 February.

The next two releases are Italian giallo films (The Fifth Cord (1971) & The Possessed (1965)) from director Luigi Bazzoniare and are due for release in the UK, USA & Canada on 4th February.

Lastly is the USA & Canada release of Audition (1999) a Japanese horror film from director Takashi Miike. It’s available to purchase from 12 February.

You can pre-order now over on Amazon or direct from Arrow Video’s website. That’s all of Arrow Video’s Blu-ray Releases for February 2019 and whilst not a great line-up there’s at least Horror Express plus a couple of Italian giallo films that should keep us film fan reasonably happy. As mentioned earlier I’m really only planning on reviewing Horror Express at this time and currently don’t have any plans for the rest.
