Blu-ray New Releases September Round-up

Having caught up with all the Blu-ray new releases from July and August it’s now time to bring us right up to date with Septembers. You can find a full list of all the upcoming releases over on our releases page. I’ll start off with my picks of the UK Blu-ray releases and put the best from the US in a future article.

UK Blu-ray New Releases – September 2017

One Septembers big releases came at the beginning of the month with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) and whilst it’s not one of my favourites it is a hugely popular film and therefore worthy of a mention. Now on to a film I thoroughly enjoy and recently reviewed, I talking about The Day Of The Jackal (1973) released by Arrow video. I’ll link my review below but in short the picture quailty is superb as is the film.

Next up is the outstanding comedy starring John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Palin and Kevin Kline, yes it’s the 4k restored version of A Fish Called Wanda (1988). I’ll be reviewing shortly but from my initial look comparing it against the previous blu-ray release the picture quality looks outstanding.

Just released on Monday 25th September is the war film Dunkirk, no it’s not the Christopher Nolan version. This is the 1958 film starring the likes of John Mills, Richard Attenborough and Bernard Lee. This makes perfect sense for Studiocanal to release it now on the back of all the hype surrounding the new film.

Top Picks

Quite a lot of new Blu-ray releases I’m sure you will agree, but now the plan is to select the top picks each week as I think a month’s worth is slightly too much to take in at once! I’ll be reviewing several of these so keep an eye out for those in the coming days/weeks.
