Comment by Dr. Loomis – Cinema Releases July 14 2017 & Blu-ray
Well another week and another summer blockbuster at the cinema, this week’s offering is War For The Planet of the Apes. I must say I really don’t care much for this franchise very much. I of course watched the first films from the 1960s and 70s on television during the eighties. They were so so at best but I’m can’t seem to work up any real enthusiasm for any of the series.
Now on to the subject of yet more remakes, I’m referring to this week’s release of The Beguiled starring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst. Why I ask myself if the Clint Eastwood 1971 film was pretty good do we need to revisit it. Once again the studio executives green light another pointless remake.
Why not remake a bad film and make it into a good film that way nobody will complain as most people won’t even have heard of the film.
As you may have guessed I won’t be heading to the cinema this weekend instead I’ll carry on with my rather large Blu-ray backlog!
Blu-ray
Speaking of Blu-ray releases its entered a bit of a lull from my point of view so I haven’t produced my top picks for the last couple of weeks.
In fact there have been quite a few re-issues or re-releases in the last few months from the likes of Arrow Video and the others companies.
