As a big fan of director Dario Argento I’ve reviewed most of his work that’s currently available on Blu-ray. In some cases his films have received additional restoration warranting a brand new release.
I’ve already reviewed the original Suspiria Blu-ray release but now it’s time to take a look at Cult Films 4K remastered version that’s available now as a dual release (Standard Bluray & DVD). Here’s my blu-ray review of their 2017 remastered version of Argento’s 1977 masterpiece, Suspiria. I won’t review the actual film as I’ve already done so in my original review.
- Suspiria (1977) (2017 Remastered Version )
- Genre: Horror
- Directed by Dario Argento
- UK Rating 18
- Discs: 2 (Bluray & DVD)
- Released By Cult Films
- Blu-ray Released: 4 December 2017

Conclusion: 4K Remastered Suspiria Blu-ray Review
The film has undergone a 4K restoration which included finding all the best versions and then restoring them correctly with the colour palette in accordance with Argento’s original Technicolor dye transfer specification.
To be fair I thought the previous release looked fabulous but this is the definitive version but without playing the versions next to each other you will probably struggle to notice any major difference.
On the extras side there’s 57 minute feature on the restoration process which I highly recommend taking a look at least once. That’s the only new feature the rest are included on the initial Bluray release.
Should you buy this new version? I guess if you are a massive Argento fan you probably already have, but for those more casual fans that already own the previous version I’d say it’s not an essential purchase.
That said if you are yet to obtain a copy on Blu-ray then don’t bother with the earlier Blu-ray release this is very much the definitive one and the version I recommend owning.
You now pick up the Blu-ray only version which is cheaper and contains exacly the same content as the Blu-ray / DVD dual release minus the DVD.
Extras
- The Restoration Process (57 mins)
- Argento Presents His Suspiria (27 mins)
- Fear At 400 Degrees (35 mins)
- Suspiria Persectives (41 mins)
