I have not looked at a western for a while so time to address that in my Day of Anger movie review. It’s a 1967 spaghetti western film directed by Tonino Valerii and stars Lee Van Cleef.
- Day of Anger Movie Review (1967) Western)
- Directed By Tonino Valerii
- Written By Ernesto Gastaldi ; Tonino Valerii ; Renzo Genta
- Running Time 114 Mins
- Music By Riz Ortolani
- Starring Lee Van Cleef ; Giuliano Gemma ; Walter Rilla ; Christa Linder ; Yvonne Sanson
The films starts with Scott Mary (Giuliano Gemma) a young man working as a street cleaner/sweeper and generally does the jobs no-else wants, in the small town called Clifton.
Most of the people in Clifton treat him badly as if he is the lowest of the low. However when Frank Talby (Lee Van Cleef) shows up, he befriends Scott and even guns down one of the locals who wants Scott to leave the saloon. Talby begins teaching Scott a few lessons in how to survive as a gunfighter.
Talby however is really in town to collect a debit owed to him by the towns locals, $50,000 dollars to be precise. So together they begin to collect the debt, however the locals aren’t going to give up easily.
I won’t spoil the ending but Scott is left with a decision to make!
Conclusion – Day of Anger Movie Review (Blu-ray)
This is one of those older guy mentoring the younger guy kind of films. But is it any good I hear you say? Well actually this is very entertaining and enjoyable, sure it’s not in the same league as The Good The Bad & The Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars or Once Upon A Time In The West but that does not stop this from being a good film.
So what is my movie rating for Day of Anger (1967)?
- Movie Rating: WORTH WATCHING
- Blu-ray Picture & Sound: EXCELLENT
The good news is Day of Anger has been restored and is available on Blu-ray
