Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch may have just entered at the top of the charts but in doing so it managed box office receipts of over $65.7m from some 4141 movie theaters.
In contrast Bohemian Rhapsody dropped to number two taking $31.2m from 4000 sites. It should also be noted that it has now taken over $100m after just two weeks on release which pretty good going and will no doubt have reached or exceeded distributor 20th Century Fox’s expectations.
At three is new entry Overload which could only manage $10.2m but from considerably less locations, just 2859 in fact so not totally disastrous but not too great either.
The last of the new movies is at six with the thriller The Girl in the Spider’s Web. This one appeared in 2929 theaters taking just over $7.8m.
