Did Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch take the number 1 spot on the US Top 10 Movie Charts?

With the festive period nearly upon us it’s no surprise to see Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch take the number one spot on this week’s movie charts. That means last week’s top grossing movie Bohemian Rhapsody has slipped but to where? Well it’s time to answer that and a whole lot more as I take you through what’s hot at the American box office. These are the figures for the US Top 10 Movie Charts November 9 2018.

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch may have just entered at the top of the charts but in doing so it managed box office receipts of over $65.7m from some 4141 movie theaters.

In contrast Bohemian Rhapsody dropped to number two taking $31.2m from 4000 sites. It should also be noted that it has now taken over $100m after just two weeks on release which pretty good going and will no doubt have reached or exceeded distributor 20th Century Fox’s expectations.

At three is new entry Overload which could only manage $10.2m but from considerably less locations, just 2859 in fact so not totally disastrous but not too great either.

The last of the new movies is at six with the thriller The Girl in the Spider’s Web. This one appeared in 2929 theaters taking just over $7.8m.
