Justice Blu-ray Review – Nic Cage’s 2011 Action Thriller

I’m continuing my look at Nicolas Cage films with an action thriller from 2011 in which he stars alongside January Jones and Guy Pearce. So without further ado here’s my Justice blu-ray review.

  • Justice (2011)
  • Genre: Action Thriller
  • Directed by Roger Donaldson
  • UK Rating 15
  • Released By Momentum Pictures
  • Blu-ray Released: 26 March 2012

Plot

Will Gerard (Nicolas Cage) is an English teacher in New Orleans, he is married to Laura (January Jones). Following a horrific sexual assault Laura is left hospitalised. It’s during this moment when Will is going out of his mind with worry at the hospital that he is approached by a man that offers justice in return for a favour sometime in the future. He accepts the offer but will he live to regret that decision?

Style / Direction

The film is directed by Roger Donaldson with the cinematography side of things taken care of by David Tattersall. This is a fast paced exciting thriller that has many twists and turns. It’s all very well executed and the movie simply flies by.

Music / Audio Effects

The music is by Owais Naeem and it certainly helps the flow of the film without being particularly memorable.

Acting / Characters

The acting is very good, Nicolas Cage plays English teacher Will Gerard an ordinary man that finds his world turned upside-down. January Jones as Laura the wife of Will plays a pivotal character.

Guy Pearce is Simon the man who offers to meat out justice on behalf of Will Gerard, he is suitable menacing.

Cast

  • January Jones as Laura Gerard
  • Guy Pearce as Simon/Eugene Cook
  • Harold Perrineau as Jimmy
  • Jennifer Carpenter as Trudy

Conclusion: Justice Film Review

Nicolas Cage is one those rare actors that is able to star in many different types of films whilst still delivering top performances. Justice is yet another good choice by him, it’s a good story well told and well acted. Put simply this is one thriller that has you on the edge of your seat in fact there’s never a dull moment. Add this one to your must see list.

Conclusion: Justice Blu-ray Review

The film released in 2011 so there are no issues with picture quality so I’ll move on to the special features and there’s only a trailer included. That said I’m just pleased to see this film made it to blu-ray seeing as many similar titles are sadly only going on to DVD for some strange reason in the UK.
