UK New Blu-ray Releases This Week – Monday 29th January 2018
Last week’s film release highlights came courtesy of Powerhouse Films with its excellent Walter Matthau and Jack Nicholson films. This week it’s the turn of StudioCanal and its Hammer titles.
Yes there are indeed more classic Hammer horror films out this week on Blu-ray:
- Horror Of Frankenstein (1970)
- Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde (1971)
- Straight On Till Morning (1972)
- To The Devil A Daughter (1976)
Ralph Bates stars in both Horror Of Frankenstein (1970) and Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde (1971) as Baron Victor Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll respectively.
Meanwhile To The Devil A Daughter (1976) is a film based on the classic Dennis Wheatley novel and stars Richard Widmark and a certain Hammer legend Christopher Lee.
Arrow Video
Only one title this week for Arrow Video but what a film, it’s the 4K restoration of director Dario Argento’s cult classic The Cat O’ Nine Tails Limited Edition (1971). Get this one while you can!
Other Films
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) is the weeks big newer film release starring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Taron Egerton.
Spirit Entertainment has the 2017 film God’s Own Country whilst Signal One Entertainment finally releases Damnation Alley (1977) a film starring Jan-Michael Vincent & George Peppard.
Classic Television
Fans of the classic sci-fi series Quantum Leap that ran between 1989-1993 and starred Scott Bakula as Dr Sam Beckett will be pleased to know that Fabulous Films have released the entire series restored on to Blu-ray.
