I’ve managed to track down another Nicolas Cage movie on blu-ray, unfortunately this one’s yet to receive a UK release with most having to settle for the DVD. The film in question is from 2019 making the lack of UK Blu-ray even more perplexing. Anyway it’s a crime thriller that co-stars Laurence Fishburne. Let’s find out if it’s worth picking up, so without further ado here’s my Running with the Devil blu-ray review.

Plot
When the drug cartel discovers that some of their shipments are going missing they send the Cook (Nicolas Cage) to find the person responsible. This requires him to follow the drugs from Columbia through Mexico and into the United States. Somewhere along the route someone is helping themselves.
Further complicating matters is the fact their drugs are also being cut with an unknown substance causing several people to die. This brings unwanted attention on their operation and therefore needs to be dealt with swiftly. Accompanying the Cook is the Executioner.
Style / Direction
Directed by Jason Cabell, he brings a gripping story to life with a well realised vision. It has a touch of the Guy Richies about in terms of the way he introduces each character. Cory Geryak is the responsible for the cinematography.
Music / Audio Effects
Reinhold Heil provides the movie’s score and I have to say it kind works well. Most film scores are functional at best these days but this one adds something good to the movie.
Acting / Characters
The acting is pretty good with Nicolas Cage playing a Cook. His does this in a controlled manner while Laurence Fishburne provides the humour.
Leslie Bibb plays the Agent in Charge, she’s the one tasked with bringing the drugs cartel to justice. It’s an odd performance in many ways. She’s emotionally involved following somebody close to her overdosing on a bad batch. At the same time she’s a little zany it’s a slightly confused role as intended from what I understand.
Adam Goldberg as the Snitch plays his role to perfection, it’s a funny performance that works well.

Conclusion: Running with the Devil (2019) Film Review
First off I should say I enjoyed this movie, I’m not going to claim it’s the greatest film I’ve ever seen. That said it’s an above average crime thriller offering that I recommend you give a look. There’s some humour provided by Laurence Fishburne and Adam Goldberg and there’s enough action to keep you hooked.
My verdict, Running with the Devil is a decent movie. Give it a look, providing you can find it on blu-ray.

It’s from 2019 therefore the picture quality is perfect. This is however an imported blu-ray version as the movie has only been given a DVD release in the United Kingdom. There are no extras included on blu-ray but I at least it can be obtained on blu-ray.
