There’s yet another Bruce Willis movie out? Let’s be clear it would appear that Willis’s best movies are well and truly behind him. He seems to be willing to do anything that’s paying. That said may be this one will be different, here my Survive the Night blu-ray review.
- Survive the Night (2020)
- Blu-ray German Import
- Genre: Thriller
- Directed by Matt Eskandari
- UK Rating N/A
- Discs: 1

Plot
Two brothers Jamie and Matthias are involved in the attempted robbery of a garage. It goes terribly wrong leaving one of them badly injured and in need of urgent medical assistance. Their plan is to go to the local hospital and wait for one of the doctors to finish their shift and follow them home.
They follow physician Rich Clark to his family home and wait for everyone to go to sleep. Shortly after they decide to enter the house…
Style / Direction
Director Matt Eskandari unfortunately delivers a pretty awful thriller. The title suggests a tense night will be had but to be honest it’s all rather boring and ridiculous.
A night in a remote area seems like a good location for this genre of film. However it’s not really used that well. Trapped in a house by two men the family are supposed to be undergoing a horrendous ordeal. However you never believe the assailants have the upper hand so there never feels any real danger apart from the initial break-in.
Music / Audio Effects
The film’s score comes from Nima Fakhrara.
Acting / Characters
The acting is poor and I mean really poor. Bruce produces the stock Bruce Willis performance we have all gotten bored of. I mean he’s not even the star of this movie and his role could really have been played by anyone.

Cast
- Bruce Willis as Frank Clark
- Chad Michael Murray as Rich Clark
- Shea Buckner as Jamie Granger
- Tyler Jon Olson as Matthias Granger
- Lydia Hull as Jan Clark
- Riley Wolfe Rach as Riley Clark
- Jessica Abrams as Rachel Clark
- Sara Lynn Holbrook as Woman in Store
- Jef Holbrook as Clerk
Conclusion: Survive the Night (2020) Film Review
Here are a few of things I disliked about the movie:
Why do they wait for everyone to go to sleep? Why not just grab the doctor as he exits his car and make him administer medical care then and there. After all one of the brothers is bleeding to death why wait?
The criminals are the dumbest around. They fail to threaten the family into cooperating despite the fact the family have young daughter. Any threat against her the family would do whatever was required to prevent any harm from coming to her.
They manage to disarm one of the bad guys but then run off leaving the gun to be picked up again by the bad guy. Why?
The ‘Survive the Night’ title is not about the family in the movie but rather for the viewer enduring watching this boring story unfold.
There plenty more I could complain about but in the end it’s simply best to avoid watching this one unless you really want to see the rubbish Bruce Willis is prepared to act in.

Conclusion: Survive the Night (2020) Blu-ray Review
The version I’m reviewing here is a German import as there does not seem to be a UK version currently available for purchase. In any case all you need do is change the language to English in the menu settings and everything is fine. As the film it is from 2020 so the picture quality is perfect.
