Classic Films Channel Talking Pictures TV Comes To Freeview

If you happen to live in the UK and love old classic films and television programmes then you may be unaware that television channel Talking Pictures TV has just become available on Freeview channel 81.  Up and till now it has only had limited availability on Freeview requiring an HD Freeview tuner even though the channel itself is standard definition.

Anyway from Thursday 30th November 2017 it can now be enjoyed by all on channel 81, simply ensure your television has been retuned and you are free to watch many classic films including the outstanding Laurel and Hardy.

For those on Virgin Media and Sky you already have this great TV channel simply head over to 445 and 343 respectively.

What’s on Talking Pictures TV?

So what other types of film/television can you expect from Talking Pictures TV?  Well one of the regulars is the TV series Scotland Yard which ran from 1953-61 and has several famous guest stars such as Harry H Corbett, Wilfrid Brambell, Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier and Roger Delgado to name but a few.

Switching to films and one of today’s films on at 10am is the 1937 crime drama Dead End starring Humphrey Bogart amongst others.

Talking Pictures TV is the perfect channel for those wanting a trip down memory lane or those who just want to view some classics for the very first time.  Either way many of these titles have not been on television in the UK for quite some time.

For example Laurel and Hardy has been lost to several generations simply by not being shown on terrestrial television. Thankfully that wrong has now being corrected.
