It’s October so time for a horror film. Here is my The Innkeepers movie review. So what is The Innkeepers all about, well it’s horror film set in The Yankee Pedlar Inn.
Plot
The Inn is closing down and the last remaining staff Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke(Pat Healy) are left to run the Inn meaning they have to stay over to look after the last few remaining guests.
The Inn is supposedly haunted so they decide to do some paranormal investigating. Pat Healy’s character Luke clearly fancies Claire and is out to try and impress her the with paranormal events he’s experienced at the Inn.
So Claire begins to search for the alleged paranormal activity. I won’t give any more away because it’s really worth watching without already knowing too much. I hate it when film trailers show most of the films what ever happened to giving us a taste of what’s to come? Sorry I digress back to film…

Now this film is shot in a real Inn and I like the way it’s shot the look and feel of the film gives it a great tense horror atmosphere you seldom get with modern horror films.
This is one those films which takes a while to get going and this only benefits the film as it slowly builds the tension letting you get to know the characters.
Kelly McGillis plays one of the guests Leanne Rease-Jones and she puts in a reasonable performance but this is not the Kelly McGillis I remember from Top Gun. The real star of the film has to the performance of Sara Paxton as Claire which is exceptional as a nerdy ghost hunter. Both Sara Paxton and Pat Healy who plays Luke bounce of each other really well.
Conclusion: The Innkeepers Movie Review
The Innkeepers stands way above the usual uninspired run-of-the-mill horror films we tend to see being released. Overall if you like horror films this is a MUST SEE if you don’t I’d still recommend it.
