It’s that time of the week when I take a look at the new UK Blu-ray releases out this week. Not too many new releases this week with War for the Planet of the Apes providing the big release.

UK Blu-ray Releases 27th November 2017 – War for the Planet of the Apes
Starting off with new film releases and 20th Century Fox have War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) out while Lionsgate releases the rather long titled sci-fi adventure Valerian and The City Of A Thousand Planets (2017) . Looking at Sony Pictures line-up reveals two titles The Emoji Movie (2017) & Howard’s End (1992) – 25th Anniversary Edition.
Next it’s the turn of Warner Bros and is squarely aimed at Harry Potter / J.K. Rowling fans with the The Wizarding World 9 Film Collection. Included in this boxset are the following films:
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
- Fantastic Beasts
- 8-Part Documentary Series ‘Creating the World of Harry Potter’
Now clearly I would think most Harry Potter fans may well already own these films maybe only on DVD so why not upgrade to the stunning picture quality of Blu-ray.
Studiocanal have a digitally restored version of The L-Shaped Room (1962) out this week. Finally Screenbound Pictures have the Neil Morrissey / Michael Elphick, from the TV series Boon fame, I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle (1990). That concludes the films out on Blu-ray this week.
Television Series
First up is the highly regarded ITV series Victoria with series 1 & 2 available this week on Blu-ray, the DVD version came out last week. Next up are two titles from Spirit Entertainment, Gunpowder which was shown on the BBC and Tin Star on Sky Atlantic.
That concludes this week’s new Blu-ray releases, there are still a few interesting releases due out before Christmas. You can keep up to date with all the upcoming Blu-ray/DVDs on our release date page.
