It’s that time of the week when I take a look at the new UK Blu-ray releases out this week (4 Dec 2017). This week sees quite a few good releases including brand new restorations for Terminator 2 and Dario Argento’s Suspiria.
- Cinema Releases 1 Decmeber 2017
- UK Top 10 Cinema Charts
- Talking Pictures TV Arrives on Freeview
- Actor Rodney Bewes Passes Away Aged 79
- Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk heading to Blu-ray in December 2017
UK Blu-ray Releases 4th December 2017 – Terminator 2
So I’ll start off with the new restoration of Terminator 2, it comes in three different choices, normal 2D Blu-ray, 3D + 2D and finally UHD + 2D Bluray. Yes unfortunately James Cameron is still obsessed with making everything 3D despite the latest attempt to make everyone wear glasses while watching a movie failing miserable. I’m not interested in the 3D version so will be obtaining the 2D Blu-ray only.
Next is Cult Film’s newly restored version of Dario Argento’s cult classic Suspiria (1977). It’s had a 4K restoration and will hopefully look amazing, that said the original Blu-ray release already had excellent picture quality so I’ll be keen to review this one soon.
Moving on to Arrow Video’s releases and we have The Premonition (1976) & The Witch Who Came From The Sea (1976).
88 Films have three new releases including one I’m particullary looking forward to, The Package (1989) starring Gene Hackman. Their two other releases are Eve Of Destruction (1991) & Toolbox Murders (1978).
Powerhouse Films only have the one Blu-ray release this month and it’s the British drama The Pumpkin Eater (1964) starring Anne Bancroft, Peter Finch and James Mason.
Rounding up the rest of the week’s new releases are horror film Annabelle: Creation (2017) and western El Dorado (1966) starring John Wayne, Bottle Rocket (1996), Captain Underpants (2017), Girls Trip (2017) & Overdrive (2017).
Television Releases
Just three new Blu-ray releases out this week but one of them is a massive release for Doctor Who fans. Tom Baker returns to complete the story Shada that due to industrial action was never finished. Now both Tom Baker and Lalla Ward return to lend their voices to high-quality animation of the missing scenes.
The remaining releases are Chicago Fire: Season Five & Fear The Walking Dead: The Complete Third Season.
That just about concludes this week new Blu-ray releases, there are still a few interesting releases due out before Christmas. You can keep up to date with all the upcoming Blu-ray/DVDs on our release date page.
