This week sees a new number one on the UK cinema chart as Tom Cruise’s American Made claims the top prize with takings of £1,067,075. Last week’s number one film The Hitman’s Bodyguard is knocked down into third place taking £883,681. Meanwhile Dunkirk holds firm at two taking a really impressive £998,531 after six weeks on release and gross to date figures of £51,679,746 no doubt pleasing Warner Bros.

Elsewhere on the movie charts new entries Logan Lucky enters at four and Detroit at seven. Bad news however for The Dark Tower after only two weeks on release, entering at five, it falls to number 10 with takings of £318,768. The Stephen King story seems to have failed to interest UK audiences, whilst not fairing too much better in the US.
