Steven Spielberg’s The Post is this week’s big news jumping from number 15 last week up to second place following positive reviews and presumably opening in lots more movie theatres.  That translates into box office takings of $19,361,968 which should please 20th Century Fox

That means the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle remains at number one with box office takings of $28,101,972 which should keep Sony Pictures happy.

There’s another disturbance in the force as Star Wars Ep. VIII: The Last Jedi falls from number three to number six with takings of $23,728,944.

Elsewhere on the movie chart there are three new entries with Liam Neeson’s The Commuter the highest entry coming in at number three taking $13,701,452.  Paddington 2 arrives at seven with Proud Mary at eight.

I think Paddington 2 should really have come out over the holiday period if it was to maximise box office takings, it’s the perfect family friendly movie after all.
