Crazy Rich Asians has been doing impressive business at the US movie box office and it continues to do so this week by maintaining top spot on the charts. In fact it’s a one and two again for Warner Bros as The Meg remains at number two. Elsewhere in the top 10 there’s just one new entry with war film Operation Finale. Let’s take a more detailed look at those box office movies; these are the figures in full for the US Movie Charts August 31 2018.

To date Crazy Rich Asians has taken $110.7m in the USA alone and consider that it had a reported budget of $30m makes this an incredibly profitable film.
It’s time to look at the new entries starting with the one film that actually made it into the top 10. War film Operation Finale enters at number five taking just over $6m. One new movie that failed to break into the top 10 was Kin, a science fiction action film. It could only manage number twelve with box office earnings of $3m from 2141 movie theatres.
Searching climbs from number twenty-two last week to four this week having expanded into more movie theatres. Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout climbs one place to three and now has gross to date figures of just over $204m from the US box office.
