Solo: A Star Wars Story drops to number two with just $15.7m in box office takings meaning that it’s gross to date figures are currently at $176.7m. There have also been several reports on various news sites claiming that the film is projected to lose around $50m.
I dare say that when all the Blu-ray/DVD sales along with deals to TV and film streaming sites are in it will comfortably make up any loss at the box office. That said it really does look like people are not happy in Star Wars land with many just not happy with the constant releases whilst others not happy with head of Lucasfilms, Kathleen Kennedy’s approach.
That means that the Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway comedy heist film Ocean’s 8 enters at number one taking over $41m. Deadpool 2 slips to three whilst the new horror movie that everyone seems to be talking about, Hereditary enters at number four.
There’s still one more new entry to mention and it’s the crime thriller, Hotel Artemis which lands at number eight taking $3.2m.
