Has superhero film Venom managed to retain its number one position or did First Man go where no other movie has gone before? Well unfortunately for Ryan Gosling whilst he may rocketed up to the moon the same cannot be said of movie charts. Anyway time to check out which movies are hot, these are the figures for the US Top 10 Movie Charts October 12 2018.

Let’s start off at the top and there’s no change meaning the aforementioned superhero movie holds on to the number one spot. It took $35m from 4250 movie theatres. There’s no change at number two either with Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper in the film A Star is Born. This one managed just under $28.5m and I have to say clearly the pull of Lady Gaga is at work with those impressive box office takings. It must also now be a highly profitable venture for distributor Warner Bros as the budget is believed to be somewhere around the $40m mark and total takings so far in the USA alone is around $94m.
So where are the new entries? Well there are three new films inside the top 10 with the highest coming at number three with Ryan Gosling’s First Man. I would have to say this one has surely underperformed following all of the hype surrounding it and good reviews. It only managed a mere $16m from 3640 locations.
At four there is another new entry with Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween this one took $15.8m from 3521 sites. The weeks only other new entry is of course 20th Century Fox’s thriller Bad Times at the El Royale that features the likes of Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm & Chris Hemsworth. It entered at number seven with box office takings of around $7.1m.
One film that appears to be leaving the top ten movie charts is horror The Nun, but maybe it will see a boost with Halloween fast approaching.
