Eureka Entertainment has recently announced their March Blu-ray titles consisting of three very different films. One’s a War film, another’s a romantic comedy and the final title is a martial arts action comedy, Wheels On Meals. So a rather varied selection and something for pretty much everyone.
However Eureka can be very hit or miss on the quality of their releases as highlighted in our recent Blu-ray Awards for 2018 in which they have entries in both best and worst categories. Fingers crossed Eureka’s March Blu-ray titles are up for consideration in this year’s best titles category.
Eureka Entertainment Upcoming Titles
- Sink The Bismarck! (1960) (11 March 2019)
- Irma la Douce (1963) (18 March 2019)
- Wheels On Meals (1984) (18 March 2019)
Sink The Bismarck! is a war film set during in the Second World War and stars Kenneth More. The story centres on the desperate desire of the British to sink the infamous German battleship. The film was directed by Lewis Gilbert.
Unfortunately there is no mention of this being a re-master version with it merely being listed as a “1080p presentation on Blu-ray”. If you have followed any of my previous Eureka Bluray reviews you may note how I often complaint at their poor picture quality releases. This is definitely one you should hold off purchasing until the reviews are out!
Jack Lemmon / Shirley MacLaine
Irma la Douce (1963) is a romantic comedy starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. It’s also produced and directed by Billy Wilder. Fortunately this film has been re-mastered or to quote Eureka.
“Stunning 1080p presentation from a brand new 4K restoration”.
Wheels On Meals (1984)
Wheels On Meals is a Hong Kong martial arts action comedy starring Jackie Chan. This one has also undergone some restoration work or as Eureka put it.
“Stunning 1080p presentation from a brand new 2K restoration”.
This one’s also a limited edition slipcase (4000 copies only) so you may want to be quick and get your pre-order in. Normally I’d advise you to hang fire until a few reviews are in but I’m guessing this will sell out pretty quickly.
Where To Purchase
You can pre-order now over on Amazon but surprisingly not on Eureka’s own site at the time of writing. That’s all of Eureka’s March Blu-ray Releases. I’m probably going to take a look at Jack Lemon’s Irma la Douce (1963) and maybe the Kenneth More war film Sink The Bismarck! (1960).
